“It’s been over 20 years since Yehudis Cohen became a part of my life. Ive been through many ups and downs and bumpy roads, she still looks out for me and is always there for me. She has done all this with nothing in return. I have so much to learn from her and feel privileged to have Yehudis Cohen in my life.”

I felt like i had Noone to guide me or care about me. Although I had many great friends and family friends, it was a different type of relationship then a mother.
I was 15 years old when my mother passed away. Although I was very popular and had a great support system, I never wanted to share my pain – I just wanted to be normal – like everyone else. It took about a year until it really hit me. I felt like i had Noone to guide me or care about me. Although I had many great friends and family friends, it was a different type of relationship then a mother.
I started exploring grief websites and forums online and I met a wonderful woman who I really respected. She was caring but there was one issue – she was a Christian woman. Being that I was in such a vulnerable state, I decided that although she gave me so much, it was not a relationship that I should develop. Thats when Yehudis Cohen, current assistant principal at machon lyhadus, stepped into my life. She was truly the most caring, smart woman I have ever met. She had patience to answer every question I had. She was always there for me at any time of the day or night. She guided me through life. I was a teenager who needed lots of love and guidance. I tested everything and lived life on the edge. She has been a real motherly figure to me and has played a huge role in life. I am proud to say that I am the person I am today because of yehudis Cohen.
It’s been over 20 years since yehudis Cohen became a part of my life. Ive been through many ups and downs and bumpy roads – (secondary infertility, health issues..)..I must say, she still looks out for me and is always there for me. She has done all this with nothing in return. I have so so much to learn from her and feel privileged to have yehudis Cohen in my life.
I cannot possibly repay Ms. Cohen’s kindness to the many people she has helped weather the storms of life and me. Nonetheless, by nominating her for this award, I believe she will get some recognition for her efforts, and this will surely help inspire more people to be kind to one another.
For all these reasons and more, I bename Yehudis Cohen for the Yocheved Gourarie Kindness Award.
